1.1 INTRODUCTION

My first paper’s introduction

This is my first paper and I have chosen Evelyn Waugh because last summer I read one of his novels by recommendation: “Brideshead Revisited” .

This year when I was offered the possibility of working an author to choose in my Narrative’s class, I thought it would be a good opportunity to inquire into this writer and his psychology to understand better his work, since I think the life’s experiences influence to us a lot as the same way the passage of time.

I have divided my work about Evelyn Waugh (in Spanish) -S.XX( 1903-1966) in eight pages, being the principal ” First Paper“. Inside “First Paper” you can find, firstly, this introduction. Then, I provide the reader three biographies, one extensive, another short and the last is a timeline.  I have made this division because there are people who is interested more in this author than other or maybe would prefer read the information through an structured way. Secondly, I couldn’t talk about him without talking  about the most important history moments in which he lived. For this, I have created a page centered on World War II and how it influenced Waugh. Later, in the point 1.4, I talk about the Catholicism, as its proper title of my paper indicates at the beginning of my work. The reader of this page and its subpages  will go deeply into the most trascendental fact of his life which changes his life as a writer, as well. It would be reflected in 1.5. Up to here, I have centered basically in the theme of my paper, but on the website there are a lot of information that a reader should know and I’m not going to fail to make the most of an opportunity; so in the point 1.6 a person can find out much more things and I recommend this page specially because I include articles, news, opinions, videos, pictures, etc and it will result attractive to reader. In my conclusion I collect all the information which I’ve provided and my own conclusions and dubts about his strange conversion to Catholicism. Finally, there are a Weblography of sites which I’ve visited to become rich about Evelyn Waugh.

These two Evelyn Waugh’s quotes reflect the life just as it is:

“Not everyone grows to be old, but everyone has been younger than he is now. “

“Your actions, and your action alone, determines your worth.”
